Primary: Wider than shoulder width flat footed

Secondary: Slightly wider then Primary, hips higher up ready to block or throw

One Knee on the Ground: Get even lower, and to free up glove side arm and shoulder to receive the baseball

Common Miscues

Slam the glove down when ball is received

Not using the 6 to 12 method

Body shifts away from the ball

Not catching the ball cleanly and not in the pocket

Sitting too high / Target too high

On the toes, Too wide or Too narrow

Identify the Standout

Catch the ball in the pocket or barehand using 3 fingers (middle, index and thumb)

Show a the target of the glove; heel down and fingers up

Catchers body and glove follow the ball

Tuck your thumb inside the throwing hand (runner on base- thigh; no runner on behind the right shin guard)

Stable base, low target

Receives the baseball firmly from ground up (6 to 12 method)
