Common Miscues

Catcher snaps at the ball and never lets the ball arrive

Pushes the glove down from 12-6 position; will not be called a strike

Not getting the frame of the body behind the ball

Catching top half of the baseball 

Thumb not underneath the baseball 

Ball not caught out in front

Identify the Standout

Catcher on both knees

Glove hand on the ground

Roll a ball and have them create a forward movement w/ their thumb “up towards the sky” coming up through the ball

Eyes are behind the ball

Thumb under the ball with elbow close to 90 degrees

Arm moving in upward motion when ball is received
