Benefits of the Drill

Creates momentum and drive towards the baseball

Common Miscues

Hitter does not maintain alignment moving forward and backward

Stiff and not in an athletic position

Begins with a larger first step back therefore reaching for the base upon approach

Hitter is very rotational and strikes the outside 1/3 of the ball

Athletic posture and balanced

Tempo is fluid and maintains straight line going forward and back

Chest stays over the hitters knees

Drives the ball towards the middle of field

Hands stay inside the ball and the bat stays in the hitting zone
